Mössbauer Spectrometer

Mössbauer spectroscopy allows characterization of materials at different temperatures in transition mode (1-3):
1) Room temperature spectra;
2) Spectra at low temperatures (down to LNT) are registered with the help of Bath cryostats;
3) Spectra at high temperature (from RT up to 1000°C) and in different atmosphere are registered by in situ Mossbauer unit.
4) Conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) allows registration of sample surface.

We investigate iron containing samples (at least 2at%) due to available radiation source 57Co/Rh (activity≅100 mCi), a-Fe is used as the inner standard. The recorded spectra are used for calculations using software (WinNORMOS) using the method of least squares. The following parameters of the hyperfine interactions are calculated: isomeric shift (IS), quadrupole splitting (QS), effective inner magnetic field at the site of iron nuclei (Heff), as well as the full width at half maximum (FWHM) and relative weights (G) of the components.
